7:30pm, 4 – 7 March 2020, The Reading Room, Ovingham
Our March 2020 production was the world premiere(!) of Rapunzel, a new pantomime written by Dan Hodgson specially for Ovingham Drama Group.
Locked in her tower by the cruel witch Gothel, Rapunzel dreams of love, freedom, and pizza, when a mysterious and handsome stranger suddenly arrives. Meanwhile, in the quaint neighbouring town of Baderen Bader, Frau Deacon mourns her missing daughter and husband while manfully carrying on running her pizza business with her son, Johann. A series of hilarious and hair-braiding adventures ensue, as Rapunzel’s tale tangles with the election for a new Burgermeister which pits the local salad magnate Donald against a green-behind-the-ears ogre.
A sold-out audience let their hair down (OH YES THEY DID) for three evenings (and a matinee) of comedy, laughter, puns, and the occasional boo and hiss.
